Testimonial Tuesday

Testimonial Tuesday: References

Testimonial Tuesday is dedicated to Testimonial Givers.

We call them Testimonialings.

It’s our Reference Letter that speaks volumes for us as Career Professionals.

Here at VYA Online; one of our biggest testimonials is that we pay before we play!

Whenever our staff buys a product or hires a service; we make sure that payment is sent.

No fuss No Muss or schemes here!

Our reputation is our biggest Testimonial.

It’s a billboard that advertises for us.

That’s why sticking to your deal by doing what you say is our core value.

When you think of Testimonials, they happen without trying.

Saying how we like or dislike a company, product or service.

Giving Testimonials is easy but gaining better ones is more difficult.

Too many times they’re too weak in description.

That’s why we created our Testimonial Tuesday guide to better testimonials.

WHO – Is the Testimonial for

WHAT – Details of how they assisted you

WHERE – It took place – online, in person, on location (this is optional)

WHEN – Timeline of when it took place

WHY – Reason why you’d recommend

HOW – Benefits of how it helped you

Put that all together & you have the makings of a great testimonial!

Example: Company ABC’s product XYZ helps me with _______.

Whenever I need ___________, it’s there to help me handle the job.

Saving hassle, time & money every time.

There you have it; our Testimonalings.

New Customers from Testimonials

Paying new customers; who doesn’t love that?

Testimonials are the best way to bring in new customers.

Many times when we buy a product or service, eat a restaurant, shop at a particular store it’s because someone we know has recommended it.

Even moreso with professional networking and business associations.

Often times when we go it’s because another has recommended that business networking group, course or workshop that they attended on a certain topic.

Last winter had finally attended a business group that another had said that they found beneficial to their business. Other times there were workshops that others had given Testimonials for.

Even funnier situation of a Testimonial happened recently.

In the past year had met a business owner through business networking & thought nothing of their service.
It wasn’t something that we needed for VYA or help for with growing VYA.

Within one networking group that VYA belongs to came two recommendations for this service.

One person had included it in the group for all to know that they’d purchased & were happy with the service.

Yet another person with whom we were working together mentioned to me privately that they had seen another post a recommendation & so they themselves had bought.

I had seen the recommendation & had been curious but now was super curious.

Went & contacted this business owner telling them how two people with positive feedback had me curious.

They laughed & were happy to hear the good feedback.

And later when I went to purchase we both laughed about how two people had turned me into a customer.

As it turned out they saw a spike in sales since many others seeing the recommendations had become customers.

Didn’t even need their product or service; was a luxury purchase for myself.

Testimonials the life blood of any business!

Testimonial Tuesday – Written, Audio or Video – Which is best?

There was a suggestion in a book that talked about “audio & video” more effective.

Everyone has their idea of what they think is best.

Many people say Written ones don’t show “verbal feeling”.

Others say audio doesn’t show the person’s facial expressions.

While there are still others that say for a video – you must be still & watch.

It is nice to have a mix of all three types if we can.

Testimonial Tuesday – Character vs Professional

At times you may be asked for multiple references: Character as well as Employment.

When applying for a post secondary program that’s what happened.

Character reference describes what type of person you are.

Professional Reference describes what type of worker you are.

One can be excellent at their profession but perhaps their manner needs improving?

Maybe even vice versa.

Good testimonials can incorporate the best of both!
