Character Testimonials

Character Testimonials are just as important as work testimonials.
Anyone can be a good worker but might be a horrible person.

Maybe you do your job well but you don’t get along with your office co-workers or you’re rude to customers when you see them face to face.

It was a couple of years ago that someone said not knowing me they couldn’t even be an Affiliate for our company & refer business to us.

Fair enough; while I’m an honest individual in my dealings they don’t know that firsthand.

Asked a few people who knew me if they could provide a testimonial particularly “personal” that I could show.

Those who I asked happily provided one & I showed the person who was unsure.

End result was everyone was pleased.

Character testimonials are about the person themselves.

Such as: Do they lend a hand & volunteer in their local community?
Are they willing to assist you when you have a burning question or dilemma?
Have they done something to help you out?
Did they teach you anything?
Offer information on what could be useful to you?
Able to deal with them effectively?

Common character testimonial for myself would be that I know great applications or technology resources that can assist business owners & I’m usually pleasant to deal with.

Virtual Assistant

Virtual Assistant – What is that?

Was asked this recently. Reputation Man; what do you mean by Virtual Assistant company?

Just what is that?

Explanation: Virtual Assistant is a self-contractor who helps business owners with their day to day office work.

Working from where they’re located & you pay only for hours needed when you need them.

If a business is a home office, works out of a co-working space or goes to clients offices; no need to worry about finding space or a desk for your assistant.

No need to buy any office equipment. Your assistant has all their own equipment.

They will work behind the scenes communicating with you through technology such as phone and email.

No worrying about benefits, sick pay or even holiday pay.

If a business owner doesn’t have any need to hire F/T Secretary then this perfect for them.

You will have more time to spend building your business & enjoy worry free time with your family instead of stressed out about your office tasks.

The benefits of not sleeping at the office or missing important occasions in your life will outweigh the cost.

Social media productivity habit

Productivity Habit – Social Media

Getting ahead of schedule iS a productivity habit not everybody does often but should.

When you were in school did you ever have to study harder on what you hadn’t learned yet?

I did!

My Father was a stickler for that; no matter how much I protested.

Then when the Teacher had that lesson ready for the class; I was prepared.

Our Entrepreneurial lives get so focused on work that we think nothing else.

Holidays and days off that we once cherished as employees; we’re now slaves to.

End of last summer; we took one work day off & then Labour Day long weekend.

Decided that a little extra time would be spent Getting Ahead.

From our own blog posts to pre-scheduling social media for ourselves and clients.

Just did a quick check in; both morning & evening less than five minutes each time.

It was almost like back to the old life of working a job and how it felt to have a day off again.

Many people say “scheduled posts” don’t have the same engagement as manual postings; haven’t noticed that in our social networks or clients. Scheduled content has gotten re-tweets, likes, comments & shares.

It’s quite a productivity habit & time saver to schedule posts worry free, knowing they’ll go out at their scheduled time.

Our VISION: Grow a business that allows utilizing skills in a profitable manner, gain a steady stream of income by assisting others & decrease global poverty by employing others.

MISSION: To be Top choice as service provider aiming Virtual Assistant companies by helping small business owners increase their ROI. Giving them back their time to work ON their business; not IN it. What is a CSV File

CSV File and Excel conversion

What is a CSV file and is that the same as Excel?

CSV stands for comma separated values.

It is a Spreadsheet the same way Excel is.

The difference is that a CSV takes out the special formatting in Excel so that the data can be displayed correctly when uploaded.

Also, Excel is a proprietary “brand name” for a Microsoft Office spreadsheet program.

“Coke” is a cola beverage made by the Coca-Cola company, there are many companies that make “Cola” but there’s only one brand is known as “Coke”.

Heinz Ketchup is a brand of tomato sauce made by the Heinz company.

Many other companies make a type of Ketchup but there’s only one Heinz Ketchup.

Microsoft Office is also a brand name where what we known as Word Document is actually a Word Processing Document, Excel is a spreadsheet, Powerpoint is a document made up of slides. Access is a database program & so on.

Many services may ask you to upload a CSV. This is so the data displays without the formatting & they don’t have to worry about compatible file formats.

Same rule applies when you are downloading contact files such as email contacts.

CSV file can be opened easily in Excel.

Excel file formats won’t be easily accepted by programs requiring .csv

How do you change an Excel spreadsheet file into a CSV then?

It’s relatively simple to do so.

First, open up your spreadsheet file.

Go to the File Menu -> Save As

Choose the new file format and press save.

Now the file name will read Document.CSV instead of Document.XLS which is the extension for Excel files.

You’ll still have your Excel file as well, saving it in a different format doesn’t overwrite your file.

What is the cloud?

Cloud – What is that exactly?

Chances are you may have heard people talk about “the cloud”.

What is it though? And how do you use it? Where do you find it?

The cloud is when your digital documents or files are stored in “online servers” so you can access them anywhere.

One woman had asked this question. Gave her the example of “online storage” services as Dropbox, Microsoft Office Online, Google Drive & Amazon S3.

It saves you space on your computer hard drive, can be shared with other users and you can access them from anywhere that you have internet access.

Working in it can also be productive. You don’t have to worry about losing hours of work if you’re computer crashes or file gets corrupted.

Your changes are saved immediately & if needed multiple people can work on the same document. You can see each other’s comments & even timestamps of when changes were made. It’s in “real time”, no having to send files back & forth to multiple people or waiting to get the document sent back to you.

You automatically have a backup copy in the cloud.

All you have to do is log into your account & it’s accessible just as it always was.

There was a comical image I saw online. The first guy his computer is on fire & the second guy asks him – Your computer is on fire! What about all your files?

The first guy replies I’m not worried, I backed up all my files by putting them into Dropbox.

Geeks will understand the joke!

Think of this way; imagine the clouds in the sky. Now think of them holding rain & snow inside them until they are ready to “open” them.

Or if you’ve ever had a storage locker; it holds your items securely until you are ready to retrieve them.

Now think of that as digital.

Where documents are “stored” in your own “file storage locker”.

Transferring mobile phone images

Mobile phone images – Transferring

You have photos and videos on your cell phone & now you want to send them to someone or transfer them to your computer. Just how are you able to start transferring mobile phone images?

Recently; had taking photos of some documents that I needed to send to a family member.

Here are the solutions on how to get them off your phone.

1) Memory Card – if your phone has a memory card; you can purchase a memory card insert & reader at an electronics store. Usually $12-$15 each. You insert that into a computer USB and transfer the images.

2) USB charger – Plug the thinner end of the charger into your phone & the other part into a computer USB port to transfer the images from your phone camera.

3) Not a smartphone or charger trouble
This tech problem is what happened to me very recently.
My laptop kept saying trouble with the “USB drive” when the charger was plugged in.

Now, I had to get these time sensitive documents sent.

Didn’t really want to buy another charger or take the laptop for repair which would mean more delayed time.

Not liking this tech dilemma at all!

As the last resort to send these mobile phone images; had a thought.
Let me find out if I can send the document images by Text Message (SMS).

Then I remembered something. BEFORE the days of most everyone having a smartphone had tried something. Emailing photos by Text Message.

Here’s what I did, went to send a “Text Message” to myself & attached the images.

Instead of a phone number put in my email address in the phone number field.

Then went to check email.

And yay! Worked perfectly!

The images were in an email, could be forwarded & looked clear to recipient.
